AutismPort is an online portal that collects and provides verified information about autism. It offers essential resources for people with autism, their families, professionals, and the public. The portal was founded by Kateřina Thorová, an autism expert. The project is part of the National Institute for Autism (NAUTIS), a non-profit organization providing comprehensive services for people with autism and their families.
At the beginning, it was crucial to correctly estimate the scope of the project, choose suitable technologies, and adapt to financial constraints. The design had to meet strict accessibility standards while remaining user-friendly. The technical solution was designed with future scalability in mind, including the potential for use in other countries.
As the portal grew, new challenges emerged, particularly ensuring technical stability, security, and reliability. It was necessary to optimize performance for an increasing number of users and protect sensitive data. Another important step was expanding functionalities, such as adding an interactive map of support centers and digitizing screening tests for identifying the risk of autism spectrum disorders.
Today, the portal has over 5,000 active visitors each month, and users have already completed more than 120,000 tests. The project is built on a combination of technical and communication capabilities that enabled its successful growth and continuous improvement.
